The national tomato of the Ko Region, this heirloom tomato has been around as long as anyone can remember. It grows best on the islands of Ko because of the rich, volcanic soil. It is so named for the stark dichotomy of colors, both of the skin and the meaty flesh and of the foliage and the flowers.
Daybreak tomatoes grow to softball size with good care, and they are a common ingredient in the savory variety of Kailuau Bars.
