| A small town on Route 8 that is famous for its large beach, which is constantly pummelled by the northern wind and the open ocean. The water here is too rough for a Pokémon to use Traverse over, but if one has a Surf Board, they can have lots of fun riding the waves.

These rough waters are the spot where the Summer Surf Contest is held. Surfing on a Pokemon won't cut it though - you'll have to find a surfboard.

|
A shop run by retired surfers. Before they'll sell you anything, though, you'll have to catch the popular "Surfing Pokemon" to prove your worth. Should you succeed in capturing it, they'll reward you with a free surfboard.

A group of synchronized swimmers will challenge you to rotation battles here.

| Surfboard - The bicycle of the sea. The surfboard allows you to surf much faster than using traverse. However, the kinds of Pokemon you encounter will become much more limited. Additionally, surfing on a surfboard won't work in extremely deep or dangerous water.
